FEATURE FRIDAY: SPENCER MACDONALD

March 16, 2018

1 thing you still have from your childhood?

The belief in the things you can't see.

Spirit animal?

I like to think it's a cheetah, but in the past friends have told me I'm more of a marmot. Clearly it's debatable.

Something you like to do outside of work?

Spending time in the forest or mountains with the homies, preferably on a backpacking trip. It's a refresher for the soul every time.

Hidden talent?

It was ping pong, but now that I've been beating everyone at the Avos (especially Drew - absolutely crushing him every time), the cat's out of the bag.

Dream job other than working in film?

Hmmm... too many good options! Possibly some sort of psychologist (I've always been fascinated by what is possible to humans through the power of the mind), mycologist, anthropologist, musician, monk or marine biologist. Luckily, as a filmmaker I can be all these things at some point.

One short dinner with anyone living or dead?

Leonard Cohen.

Favorite scent?

Redwood.

Ideal meal?

A burrito from La Taqueria. Or spagetti carbonara. Or massaman curry. Or anything my mom makes.

If you were a juice what would be in it?

Spinach, kale, blueberries, a splash of warmth.

First job?

When I was 16 I was a golf caddie at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. Took me a few years to get back to that pay scale...

What would your DJ name be?

Spenceboogie.

Favorite possession?

Probably my guitar. There's nothing else I can think of that can create so much with such little input or additions necessary.

Best way to eat an avocado?

With a spoon, or on absolutely anything!
